Zaragoza Fair Generates Economic Impact of 422.3 Million Euros, Equivalent to 1.01% of Regional GDP

The Zaragoza Fair has solidified its position as one of the main economic drivers of the autonomous community, according to the latest economic impact study updated by the Zaragoza Chamber of Commerce. The report, conducted by ESIC and led by Pedro Mata, a doctor in Business Economics from the University of Zaragoza, concludes that the fair’s activities generate an annual economic impact of 422.3 million euros, equivalent to 1.01% of Aragon’s GDP. \n\nThe study was presented this morning at the Zaragoza Chamber of Commerce, attended by Mar Vaquero, Vice President of the Government of Aragon; Jorge Villarroya, President of Zaragoza Fair; and Pedro Mata. Vaquero highlighted the fair’s dual economic and social impact, emphasizing its role in driving the economy and supporting strategic infrastructure like the Congress Palace. \n\nVillarroya noted the “profound and sustained impact” Zaragoza Fair has on the Aragonese economy, positioning it as a key player in the international arena by attracting investment and fostering knowledge exchange. \n\nThe study uses the Input-Output methodology, recognized globally for analyzing sector interdependencies. The impact is distributed across three levels: direct impact of 84.8 million euros from visitor and exhibitor spending; indirect impact of 309.7 million euros generated in complementary sectors like services, transport, and logistics; and induced impact of 28.4 million euros from consumption linked to nearly 1,000 full-time jobs created by the fair’s activities. \n\nThe report also highlights the growing internationalization of key events like FIMA, SMOPYC, ENOMAQ, FIGAN, and SMAGUA, with an average of over 182,000 visitors and 2,000 exhibitors annually. The fair’s influence extends beyond its venue, impacting sectors such as hospitality, transportation, and commerce. \n\nLooking ahead, the report emphasizes the need to diversify events for year-round economic stability and highlights the roles of digitalization, sustainability, and internationalization in Zaragoza Fair’s strategic plan. \n— new from Feria de Zaragoza
