CFAAIR warns of impacts on Mideast of Israeli occupation aggression
KUWAIT, June 21 (KUNA) — The Council for Arab and International Relations strongly denounced the aggression of the Israeli occupation on Iran, warning of the dire consequences of the conflict on the security and stability of the Middle East countries. The possible expansion of the conflict puts in peril the security of the region, the Council said in a press release on Saturday. The ongoing war between the Israeli occupation and the Iran can by no means serve peace and security in the region and beyond, the statement said, warning of the risks of connivance at the crimes and malpractices of the racist right-wing regime of the Israeli occupation. The Council – a non-government non-profit organization based in Kuwait, is chaired by Mohammad Al-Saqr, of Kuwait. The statement denounced any political, military or economic support to the Israeli occupation authorities, as well as any attempt to grant them immunity from accountability for the atrocities against the Palestinian people or flagrant interventions in the affairs of neighboring Arab countries. Connivance at the genocidal acts of the Israeli occupation risks undermining the legitimacy of the international relations system, ignite chaos and jungle law in the region, the statement cautioned. The Council urged the international community to step in and foil the malicious designs of the Israeli occupation which aim to fragment the entire Middle East in a way that could suit its extremist ideology and its dreams of supremacy and hegemony. The key to ensuring the security and stability of the Middle East lies in full implementation of the UN resolutions related to the Palestine question and realization of the two-state vision. On the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program, the Council reiterated the call for ridding the Middle East of all weapons of mass destruction and preventing the Israeli occupation from becoming the sole nuclear power in the region. Highlighting the need of applying the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) on all, the Council cautioned against use of double standards when it comes to universality of the Treaty. Failure to realize the standards of justice and principles of the international legitimacy can only destabilize the region and foment extremist trends inside and outside the region, according to the statement.
