Kuwait and Belgium Strengthen Ties in Fifth Round of Political Talks

Kuwait and Belgium convened the fifth round of political consultations in Brussels on Wednesday, aiming to bolster bilateral relations and explore new avenues for cooperation. According to a statement received by KUNA, the Kuwaiti delegation was led by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, Ambassador Sadeq Marafi, while Ambassador Brigitte Stevens, Director General for Bilateral Relations at the Belgian Foreign Ministry, headed the Belgian side. Kuwait’s Ambassador to Belgium, Nawaf Al-Enezi, who also serves as Head of its Missions to the EU and NATO, attended the discussions.

The talks centered on enhancing ties, particularly in political, economic, and investment sectors. Participants explored investment opportunities for Belgian businesses in key Kuwaiti sectors and discussed ways to promote trade and expand economic collaboration. Both sides exchanged perspectives on regional and international issues of mutual concern, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination in multilateral forums.

The discussions also reviewed cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union, with a focus on strengthening strategic partnerships in areas such as regional security, energy, and sustainable development. In a statement to KUNA, Al-Enezi highlighted that this round of consultations underscores the growing strength of Kuwait-Belgium relations and fosters political and diplomatic dialogue between the two nations. He also noted the increasing momentum in Kuwait-EU relations, driven by Kuwait’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships based on mutual respect and shared interests.
