Kuwait’s CITRA Signs Contract for Advanced Spectrum Monitoring System

KUWAIT, Aug 18 (KUNA) — The Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has finalized a contract with Future Integrated Technologies for Communications Equipment Company to deploy the Automated Spectrum Monitoring and Analysis System, marking a major step in modernizing Kuwait’s national spectrum oversight infrastructure. This comprehensive initiative is designed to strengthen the monitoring of radio frequencies across the country, ensuring compliance with international standards and enhancing the efficiency of telecommunications services.

According to a CITRA statement, the project underscores the authority’s dedication to maintaining strict oversight of all frequency bands, accurately detecting unauthorized transmissions, and pinpointing sources of harmful interference. These capabilities are essential for optimizing the use of limited spectrum resources in alignment with globally recognized best practices.

Key goals of the system include improving service quality through routine field assessments and sophisticated analytical tools, as well as enabling real-time surveillance to allow rapid responses to regulatory breaches. The initiative will also boost enforcement of licensing terms and support long-term sustainability of spectrum allocation.

The rollout includes the creation of a centralized control hub, deployment of fixed and mobile monitoring units, distribution of portable detection devices, and integration of network performance evaluation instruments. Coverage will extend across all residential zones and border regions, ensuring nationwide monitoring effectiveness.

This advancement is expected to significantly improve CITRA’s ability to assess telecom network performance and minimize service disruptions caused by interference or illegal usage, ultimately benefiting both providers and consumers.

CITRA reiterated its ongoing efforts to advance Kuwait’s digital infrastructure and reinforce the regulatory environment in accordance with national development strategies and top-tier international benchmarks. (end) r nfh.gta
