KUWAIT, July 4 (KUNA) — On this date in history, several significant events shaped Kuwait’s development.
In 1961, Arab League Secretary General Abdulkhaleq Hassouna visited Kuwait to mediate a dispute with Iraq after Iraqi leader Abdulkareem Qassem made territorial claims against the country. During his talks, Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah expressed openness to resolving the issue within the framework of the Arab League.
In 1978, Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued a decree outlining financial support measures for Kuwaiti families and individuals in need.
By 1992, the Kuwait Satellite Channel began broadcasting via Arabsat, reaching audiences across Asia, Europe, and Africa.
In 1995, the Kuwait National Assembly passed legislation allowing individuals who had been naturalized for at least 20 years to participate in the 1996 general elections.

In 2018, Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah officially opened Terminal Four at Kuwait International Airport. The terminal, exclusively used by Kuwait Airways, has an annual passenger capacity of 4.5 million.
