1961 — The State of Kuwait formally applied to become a member of the United Nations.
1969 — Kuwait’s Amir at the time, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, signed a decree endorsing an agreement with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), under which Kuwait donated USD 200,000 to support child welfare initiatives.
1977 — A land transportation company was founded with a capital of KD 10 million.
1988 — Saud Al-Rashed, a prominent Kuwaiti singer known for performing the first song on Kuwait Radio, passed away at the age of 66.
2001 — The Kuwait national team secured victory in the Asian double-trap Championship held in Thailand, achieving a total of 382 points.
2015 — The Kuwait Municipal Council resolved to name the Sixth Ring Road after the late Jassem Mohammad Al-Kharafi, former speaker of the National Assembly.
2019 — Abdurrahman Al-Awadhi, a former health minister, planning minister, and member of parliament, passed away at the age of 83. He began his career as a doctor with the Ministry of Health in 1963 and was elected to parliament in 1975, subsequently serving as Minister of Health and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs. Al-Awadhi also held roles in the Executive Council and chaired the General Assembly of the World Health Organization.
