2 passengers treated after Delta flight forced to return to Atlanta airport due to ‘haze’

Delta Air Lines faced another concerning incident when Flight 876 had to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Monday morning due to “haze” inside the aircraft. Following protocol, the flight crew declared an emergency and returned to Atlanta after observing the haze. Emergency slides were deployed upon landing on Runway 27. The Boeing 717, which departed for Columbia, South Carolina, carried 94 customers, two pilots, and three flight attendants. Two passengers received treatment from EMTs and were released. Delta arranged ground transportation and rebooking for affected passengers, with a continuation flight to Columbia operated by another aircraft. The aircraft involved was declared airworthy on Sept. 16, 1999. This incident follows two other recent events involving Delta flights: a smoke detection in the galley of a Los Angeles to Sydney flight, which returned safely, and a crash of a Delta flight operated by Endeavor Air at Toronto Pearson Airport, injuring over 20 people. Delta emphasized passenger safety and apologized for the inconvenience. The FAA will investigate the incident. — news from FOX 5 Atlanta
