Trump Administration Rehires Some FDA Employees After Abrupt Firings

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has begun rehiring some Food and Drug Administration (FDA) employees who were fired last week, according to agency sources. The firings were described as abrupt and disorganized, but reinstatements appear to be occurring in certain divisions. For instance, all 12 employees in the office responsible for reviewing surgical and infection control devices were rehired. Additionally, two of three employees in the FDA’s digital health office and several others reviewing AI-enabled imaging, diabetes, and cardiovascular devices have been reinstated. The FDA and the Health and Human Services Department have not provided further clarification on the situation. — news from STAT
