Redmond Light Rail Extension Opens, Cross-Lake Span Delayed

The ‘Two Line’ light rail now offers an additional 3.5 miles of track with the opening of new stops at Marymoor Park and downtown Redmond by Sound Transit. This extension increases the total number of stops on the Eastside to ten, improving connectivity between Redmond and Bellevue. However, the much-anticipated cross-lake span remains delayed. One rider expressed mild frustration, saying, “Are you still frustrated it hasn’t reached Seattle yet? Ah, a little bit, but I hear it’s supposed to be the end of the year.” Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine has not confirmed this timeline, stating earlier this week that the agency aims to connect the lines by summer 2026. Efforts are ongoing to finalize the revised timeline for project completion.
