Wadi Degla Club has emerged as a prominent player in Egypt’s sports scene, excelling not only in results but also in fostering a professional system that develops talent and achieves success. The club’s CEO, Tarek Rashid, discussed the landscape of sports investments in Egypt, emphasizing the diversity of club models. He highlighted three main types of clubs: popular clubs like Al Ahly and Zamalek, company-affiliated clubs such as El Mokawloon, and private clubs like Wadi Degla, which operate under a profit-driven model. Rashid noted that the lack of official data complicates assessing investment levels but pointed to significant growth, with around 600 licensed companies now involved in sports investments. He also addressed legislative challenges, suggesting reforms to allow more flexible business structures. Rashid stressed the need for state incentives to encourage private investments in sports, given their social and economic benefits. Wadi Degla plans to expand geographically, aiming to establish new branches in Alexandria, Tanta, and Shorouk City.
