Netflix’s Ad-Supported Tier Experiences Rapid Growth and Expands Ad Formats

Netflix has experienced significant growth in its ad-supported tier, with the number of users more than doubling over the past year. During an advertiser presentation, the company announced that its $7.99 monthly plan now attracts over 94 million users globally each month, up from 40 million in May 2024 and 70 million in November. Since launching in 2022, Netflix is expanding its ad formats to include pause ads and interactive ads by the end of 2026. Amy Reinhard, Netflix’s president of advertising, highlighted that ad-supported subscribers spend an average of 41 hours per month on the service. Netflix’s in-house advertising platform is operational in the US and Canada, with plans to expand to all 12 countries offering ad-supported plans by June.
