Nvidia Developing China-Specific Chips Amid US Export Restrictions

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang reportedly informed customers during a trip to Beijing about plans to develop chips tailored for the Chinese market. This follows U.S. government restrictions on exports of Nvidia’s H20 AI chips to China, which could result in charges of $5.5 billion for the company. Nvidia aims to have a sample of the new chip available by June and is also working on a China-specific version of its Blackwell AI chip. The company has been designing chips to align closely with U.S. export limits while catering to the Chinese market, a key region for Nvidia.
