NEW YORK (AP) — Spotify encountered widespread technical difficulties on Wednesday morning, with tens of thousands of users globally reporting issues. Many users experienced problems loading the app and website, playing songs, or using the search function. However, the number of disruptions appeared to decrease as the day went on. By 10:45 a.m. ET, Downdetector reported over 20,000 outage reports for Spotify worldwide, down from a peak of more than 48,000 earlier in the day. Spotify acknowledged the issues on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that the appropriate team was working on a fix. The company denied rumors of a security breach, clarifying that reports of a hack were false. As of now, Spotify has more than 675 million users globally, including 263 million subscribers across over 180 markets. Some users also faced challenges accessing Spotify’s support site during the outage.
