Tesla Hosts Public ‘All-Hands’ Meeting Amid Challenging Quarter

Tesla has announced its first-ever public ‘all-hands’ meeting, live-streamed on X, amid a challenging quarter where the automaker is expected to deliver fewer cars than in any quarter in the last three years.

The live stream titled “all hands meeting Q1 2025” initially went live at 9:00 PM ET Thursday but was briefly taken down. It resumed at 9:30 PM ET, with content starting at 9:57 PM.

CEO Elon Musk addressed employees and stakeholders, discussing various aspects of Tesla’s operations. He announced that Tesla has produced 7 million vehicles to date and reiterated his belief that Tesla is the top place to work. Musk emphasized Tesla’s commitment to sustainability and abundance for all through advancements in AI and robotics, specifically referencing the Optimus humanoid robot.

Musk claimed that Model Y is on track to be the best-selling car this year and joked about Model 3 sales. He reiterated claims about the Cybertruck’s bulletproof capabilities and the future of autonomous Tesla Semi trucks.

Musk also discussed Tesla’s progress with the Dojo supercomputer, stating it is operating at 5% capacity, and referenced the significance of cars driving autonomously at the factory. He claimed Optimus is the most sophisticated humanoid robot on earth with real-world AI capabilities.

During the Q&A session, Musk revealed plans to produce about 5,000 Optimus robots this year, increasing to 50,000 in 2026, with external sales starting in the second half of 2026. Tesla employees will be the first to have access to Optimus.

Tesla’s stock has declined by 40% this year, and Musk encouraged shareholders to hold onto their stocks, referencing potential value increases through software updates enabling vehicle autonomy.
