The August Egg Company has initiated a recall of 1.7 million eggs sold in Nevada and other states due to potential Salmonella contamination. The FDA has linked a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections to these eggs. So far, 79 cases have been reported across seven states, including four in Nevada, with 21 hospitalizations but no fatalities. Consumers should check their egg cartons for Julian Dates between “32” and “126” and plant codes “P-6562” or “CA-5330.” Affected brands include Clover, First Street, Nulaid, O Organics, Marketside, Raleys, Simple Truth, Sun Harvest, and Sunnyside. Symptoms of Salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, typically resolving without treatment, though vulnerable groups may face more severe outcomes.
