Advisor to Statistics Authority: Launching Pilot Version of First Economic Atlas by End of 2026

Engineer Ahmed Kamil, advisor to the head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) and Geographic Information Systems, announced the expected timeline for completing the first demographic-economic atlas system in Egypt. The project is set to be finalized by the end of 2026. In an exclusive statement to “Youm7,” Ahmed Kamil confirmed that the protocol signed with the French side spans three years, during which a pilot version of the demographic atlas will be launched on the platform. This nationwide project integrates CAPMAS’s population, economic, and digital data with geographic spatial information, resulting in an advanced electronic geographic platform powered by “GeoCLIP” technology. This platform will allow researchers and decision-makers to explore Egypt’s demographic situation, population distribution by economic and social levels, educational stages, age groups, and over 5,000 other indicators.

The demographic project involves statistical studies of population size, distribution, composition, and characteristics, aiming to understand demographic changes and their societal and economic impacts. The advisor highlighted the system’s significance in providing easy access to data for decision-makers, researchers, and students, containing over 100 years of Egypt’s demographic records. It also enables historical tracking of population distribution and activities across urban and rural areas.
