Affordable Homes in India Dwindle to 7-Year Low, Report Shows

A report by Knight Frank reveals that the availability of homes priced below 5 million rupees ($58,553) in India has reached its lowest level since 2018, indicating that developers are increasingly moving away from this market segment. According to the real estate consultancy’s findings released last week, new housing supply in the affordable category dropped to 30,806 units during the six months ending in June. The proportion of total home sales attributed to this segment has also declined significantly, falling to 22% over this period compared to 54% in the first half of 2018.
