American Airlines Launches Flagship Suite Experience on New Boeing 787-9 Aircraft

American Airlines is set to introduce its premium Flagship Suite experience on newly designed Boeing 787-9 aircraft, marking the start of a “Suite Summer.” Tickets for select routes will go on sale starting Monday. The inaugural international flight offering the Flagship Suite experience will depart from Chicago to London on June 5. Later this summer, American will also operate the new 787-9 from Philadelphia to London and Zurich. By fall, Flagship Suite service will extend to flights from Dallas Fort Worth to Brisbane, Australia.

American Airlines welcomed two new 787-9 planes to Dallas-Fort Worth and anticipates adding 30 new aircraft to its fleet by 2029. The airline expects to grow its lie-flat and Premium Economy seating by 50% by the end of the decade. The Flagship Suite features 51 private seats with privacy doors, enhanced storage, wireless charging, and a unique chaise lounge seating option. Passengers also enjoy Priority check-in, security, boarding, and baggage handling, along with access to American’s Flagship lounge and an inflight multicourse meal paired with award-winning wines.

Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, emphasized the premium nature of the new 787-9, stating that the experience begins the moment customers book their flights. Looking ahead, Flagship Suite seats will be available on all newly delivered 787-9 aircraft, Airbus A321XLR aircraft, and retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER planes.
