The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation announced the launch of preparatory expert-level meetings for the 18th session of the Egypt-Tunisia Joint Higher Committee, scheduled to take place in Cairo from September 8 to 11, 2025. The event will be led by Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation and Tunisia’s Ministry of Trade and Export Development, with participation from representatives of 28 national entities from both countries.
This session reflects the strong historical ties between Egypt and Tunisia, highlighting mutual efforts by leadership on both sides to expand cooperation and explore new areas for partnership.
Expert discussions will precede the preparatory ministerial meeting set for Wednesday, chaired by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, alongside Samir Obeid, Tunisia’s Minister of Trade and Export Development. This will be followed by the high-level committee session, led by the prime ministers of both nations, where several bilateral cooperation agreements are expected to be signed.
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat emphasized Egypt’s commitment to deepening bilateral collaboration with Tunisia across multiple sectors. She noted that the agenda includes strategies to double the volume of bilateral trade and enhance cooperation in industry, petroleum, electricity, civil aviation, agriculture, culture, tourism, rail transport, and joint investment initiatives.
Established as one of the oldest inter-Arab joint committees, the Egypt-Tunisia Joint Higher Committee has held 17 previous sessions. It oversees specialized technical committees in infrastructure, logistics, transportation, youth, industry, and trade, serving as the primary framework for advancing bilateral relations.
