Economic Expert: Rising Food and Energy Prices Due to Wars Increase Burdens on Developing Nations

Dr. Yasser Shouita, an economic and strategic expert, highlighted that the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine war have caused severe economic shocks, most notably the global surge in energy and food prices. This has significantly increased the financial and social burdens on developing nations. Speaking on the program “Red Line” hosted by journalist Mohamed Mousa on Al-Hadath TV, Shouita explained that many developing countries heavily rely on grain imports from Russia and Ukraine, as well as energy sources. With disrupted supply chains and rising costs, these nations are now facing a real food crisis and escalating inflation. These challenges have led to rising poverty and hunger rates, worsening financial crises in already fragile economies. Shouita warned that the ongoing war, without a diplomatic resolution in sight, will continue to impact developing nations for an extended period. He emphasized the need for genuine international intervention to safeguard the food and economic security of these countries.
