Egypt and UK Explore High-Level Economic Forum to Boost Investment

Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on Saturday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and exchange views on regional developments of mutual interest. n nAbdelatty welcomed the positive trajectory in Egypt-UK ties and affirmed the importance of advancing cooperation across political, economic, commercial, and investment domains for mutual benefit. He underscored the significance of organizing a high-level economic event involving major British companies to boost UK investments in Egypt in the coming years, especially given recent economic reforms and improvements in the investment climate. n nThe two ministers also discussed the situation in Gaza. Abdelatty emphasized the need to maintain a sustainable ceasefire and implement the second phase of the U.S. presidential plan, reaffirming the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 2803. He called for the deployment of an international interim stabilization force to monitor the truce, protect civilians, and enable Palestinian forces to assume law enforcement responsibilities in Gaza. n nHe briefed his British counterpart on Egypt’s vision for a temporary transitional phase ahead of the Palestinian Authority’s return to Gaza, stressing the necessity of realizing a Palestinian state in line with international legitimacy and resolutions. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any measures that entrench division between the West Bank and Gaza or undermine the two-state solution. He urged the international community to act against escalating violence in the West Bank and settler attacks on Palestinian civilians, condemning ongoing settlement expansion. n nThe conversation also covered developments in Sudan.
