FDA Recalls Ice Cream Due to Plastic Contamination

As summer approaches and the craving for ice cream rises, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall of approximately 16,000 gallons of ice cream due to potential plastic contamination. This voluntary recall was initiated by Wells Enterprises on April 25 and affects 22 products. The recall is categorized as Class II, meaning that exposure to the violative product might cause temporary or reversible health issues, though the likelihood of serious consequences is low. So far, no incidents of harm have been reported. Among the recalled products, “Vanilla Frozen Yogurt” is the most affected, with 5,280 tubs involved. Consumers are advised to check their freezers for the recalled items, which come in 3-gallon tubs with expiration dates ranging from March 2025 to October 2026, and discard them if found.
