The city recently launched construction on an $8 million development expected to reshape its regional influence and boost local employment. \n\nThis project centers on the construction of a new travel center by Busy Ant Travel Center, a company that already operates a smaller facility about 50 miles north of the town. The upcoming $8 million truck stop will be located just off Interstate 65, providing strategic access for travelers and freight operators. \n\nSpanning 12,000 square feet, the facility will house multiple retail outlets, including a Subway franchise, dedicated fueling stations, and an electric vehicle charging hub. The addition to the city effectively creates jobs and enhances its footprint in South Alabama. \n\nThe site is the future home of a new 12,000 square foot truck stop featuring several stores, including Subway, an Electric Vehicle charging station, fueling stations and plans for more advancement in the future. \n\nCity officials say the 8 million dollar development has been a labor of love and getting the city to phase is a group effort one will have a huge impact on its residents. \n\nPhase one of Georgiana’s economic plan is scheduled to be completed in a year and a half.
