General Motors is recalling approximately 721,000 vehicles globally due to engine issues that could result in power loss and increase crash risks. The recall affects 2021–2024 model-year Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with 6.2L V8 gas engines. GM identified potential manufacturing defects in the connecting rod and crankshaft components, which may cause engine damage or failure. Nearly 600,000 of the recalled vehicles are in the United States. Dealers will inspect the engines and, if necessary, repair or replace them. Vehicles passing inspection will receive higher viscosity oil, along with a new oil fill cap and oil filter replacement. GM has reported 12 crashes and 12 injuries in the U.S. possibly linked to this issue.
