IMF Endorses Honduras’ Economic Progress and Confirms Disbursement

Honduras’ economy has shown resilience, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which confirmed a disbursement after completing the third review of the Extended Credit Facility and Extended Fund Facility programs for the country. The IMF highlighted the strong performance of these programs under the 2023-2026 agreement, with disbursements totaling approximately $485 million so far. Economic growth reached 3.6% in 2024, and the IMF forecasts a 3.5% expansion of the GDP this year, driven by social and productive investments. Inflation has decreased, nearing the 4.0% target. Finance Minister Christian Duarte praised the government’s monetary and fiscal policies, noting strengthened international reserve coverage since late 2024. The total financial assistance agreed upon with the IMF amounts to $823 million, distributed across six installments contingent on review approvals.
