Ineos Automotive, owned by billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co-owner of Manchester United, has recalled over 7,000 Grenadier SUVs in the US due to faulty door latches. The issue could cause doors to open while driving, increasing passenger injury risks. Ineos will replace all door button assemblies on affected vehicles free of charge. This recall affects Grenadiers produced between July 6, 2023, and April 19, 2024. The problem stems from insufficient grease in the door button mechanism, preventing doors from latching properly. Launched in 2022, the Grenadier is Ineos Automotive’s first vehicle, inspired by the Land Rover Defender. Sir Jim initiated the car company after Jaguar Land Rover discontinued the Defender. Despite assembling the vehicle in France, Ineos Automotive reported losses exceeding 1.4 billion euros in 2023. Sir Jim owns a 27.7% stake in Manchester United. — news from BBC.com
