KFAS and UK’s King’s Foundation ink strategic sustainability pact

KUWAIT, July 2 (KUNA) — The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with The UK’s King’s Foundation, aligning with directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to promote sustainable development, education, and innovation.

KFAS announced that the partnership will enhance joint initiatives in food security, education, scientific research, and the preservation of cultural and environmental heritage. Planned projects include model regenerative horticulture farms and training programs focused on agricultural techniques, sustainable architecture, and traditional craftsmanship.

The collaboration will also develop environmental and architectural innovations suited to regional conditions. Additionally, it will facilitate academic and scientific exchanges through visiting researcher programs, fellowships, pilot project support, and virtual knowledge-sharing seminars between Kuwaiti and UK institutions.

KFAS Director General Dr. Ameenah Farhan described the agreement as a major milestone in strengthening Kuwaiti-British relations, reflecting the enduring partnership between the two nations. Simon Sadinsky, Executive Director for Education at The King’s Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for advancing scientific and environmental education in horticulture and farming while sharing expertise in sustainable architecture and traditional crafts.

Stuart Summers, Charge d’Affaires at the British Embassy in Kuwait, welcomed the strategic alliance and expressed anticipation for its tangible outcomes, which will further solidify ties between scientific and development institutions in both countries.

Established by King Charles III in 1990, The King’s Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to fostering communities where people, places, and the planet coexist harmoniously. It offers educational programs to approximately 15,000 students annually, provides health and wellbeing services to around 2,000 individuals, and leads regeneration initiatives in the UK and internationally.
