KUWAIT, June 30 (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Samih Hayat, expressed the country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and dialogue with nations globally, particularly those in Asia.
Ambassador Hayat made these remarks during an event marking the 23rd anniversary of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Forum in Kuwait, which was attended by several heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations based in the country.
He explained that the establishment of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Forum in 2002 reflected Kuwait’s interest in fostering dialogue and collaboration with Asian nations, aiming to unify separate regional organizations such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC).
Ambassador Hayat noted that Kuwait aspires to transform the forum into an influential international organization, a proposal that was formally introduced at the third summit of the forum held in Doha, Qatar, last October. He emphasized that Kuwait is actively working to realize this vision and acknowledged the support from Asian member states, which reinforces cooperation, partnership, and dialogue among forum countries and the global community.
Ambassador Nasser Al-Mutairi, the Secretary-General of the Asian Dialogue Forum, added that the forum focuses on enhancing cooperation among its members through six key areas: communication, science and technology, innovation, education, human resource development, food-water-energy security linkages, culture, tourism, and sustainable development.
