Kuwait: Strategic Economic Partner of Egypt

Egyptian Minister Kamel Al-Wazir emphasized that Kuwait is not just an economic partner but a strategic ally that Egypt values greatly. This statement was made during his visit to the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, accompanied by an Egyptian delegation and in the presence of Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait Osama Shaltoot. Al-Wazir highlighted the deep bilateral ties between Egypt and Kuwait, describing them as a model for cooperation on both political and economic levels. He praised the efforts of both governments in supporting the business community and enhancing collaboration between public and private sectors in the two countries. He also pointed out the importance of Kuwait’s investments and capabilities in opening up new shared markets, noting an ambitious initiative to establish a joint and integrated industrial zone in both nations. Al-Wazir expressed appreciation for Kuwaiti entrepreneurs’ role in boosting economic cooperation with Egypt and expressed hope for increased Kuwaiti investment in Egypt, particularly in integrated industrial cities. In a similar speech, Assistant General Manager of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Fras Al-Oudah, affirmed that this visit aims to strengthen the longstanding ties between the two brotherly nations and achieve growing economic cooperation under a shared vision of economic prosperity and sustainable development. Al-Oudah expressed pride in Egypt’s remarkable progress and unprecedented development in infrastructure, particularly in the transportation sector, which serves as the backbone of development. He noted the Kuwaiti private sector’s interest in investing in Egypt, explaining that Kuwaiti investments in Egypt represent the oldest and largest Gulf investments, with around 1,500 Kuwaiti companies operating in various sectors. The total volume of Kuwaiti investments in Egypt has reached approximately $20 billion, with potential for significant growth given the promising opportunities in the Egyptian market. He reiterated the Chamber’s commitment to supporting and facilitating all possible means to enhance cooperation between business communities in both countries for mutual prosperity and development. Egyptian Ambassador Shaltoot also praised the role of Kuwaiti business leaders and investors in the Egyptian economy, expressing the Egyptian business community’s aspiration to form investment partnerships with Kuwaiti companies and work together within strategic alliances in both countries. On the sidelines of the visit, a Kuwaiti-Egyptian investment forum was held, featuring 17 Egyptian companies operating in various fields and attended by Kuwaiti business leaders and representatives of the Kuwaiti private sector.
