McDonald’s Plans Massive Hiring Drive This Summer

McDonald’s has announced plans to hire 375,000 employees across the U.S. this summer, marking one of its largest hiring initiatives in recent years. This move aligns with the company’s goal to open 900 new restaurants in the U.S. by 2027 and to serve more customers during peak summer months.

The announcement was made by Joe Erlinger, McDonald’s president for the U.S., alongside Department of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer at a location near Columbus, Ohio. This comes as the Trump administration encourages businesses to invest more in the U.S., with over $5 trillion in new investment promises secured during Trump’s first 100 days in office.

Despite this hiring push, McDonald’s recently reported its worst quarterly sales for the U.S. since 2020, with U.S. same-store sales falling by 3.6%. Executives attribute the decline to reduced customer visits, particularly among middle-income diners.
