Minister of Investment Opens Seminar on Egypt-Japan Strategic Partnerships and Economic Transformation

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), in collaboration with the Egyptian Trade Office in Tokyo, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, the Egypt-Japan Business Council, and the Trade Representative, organized a business seminar with the participation of high-ranking Japanese government officials, over 200 Japanese companies, and an investment delegation.

The minister outlined the current phase of economic transformation aimed at sustaining growth, emphasizing Egypt’s efforts to attract Japanese investments in renewable energy, software, electronics manufacturing, food industries, logistics, automotive and components, and electrical appliances.

He highlighted the investment climate in Egypt, available investment incentives, and promising sectors for Japanese investors, including renewable energy, manufacturing, information technology, and transportation and logistics.

Tomohiro Takashima, Deputy Executive Director of JETRO, affirmed Egypt’s importance as a strategic investment partner for Japan.

Shigeyuki Nishizawa, Director of JETRO’s Cairo Office, presented developments in Japanese investments in Egypt and outlined the investment incentives available in the country.

The seminar aimed to strengthen economic ties between Egypt and Japan, opening new opportunities for Japanese companies to benefit from Egypt’s industrial infrastructure and free trade agreements, particularly with Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

The event featured presentations of successful partnerships to enhance industrial collaboration between Egyptian and Japanese firms and boost Egyptian exports of food and agricultural products to Japan. A specialized unit was announced to facilitate business operations for Japanese companies in Egypt, offering premium services to support Japanese investors and assist in company establishment, in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

The seminar emphasized Japanese companies’ interest in the Egyptian market, with many already launching manufacturing and distribution operations as a regional industrial, logistics, and service hub.

The seminar included a panel discussion moderated by investment expert from JICA, Soichiro Murakami, with participation from representatives of the General Authority for Investment, Nile International, Mitsui Japan, Japan Tobacco, and YKK. The discussion focused on supply chain integration, food industries, green energy, digital transformation, and manufacturing opportunities in Egyptian industrial zones.
