Nationwide Recall of Shrimp Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for approximately 44,550 pounds of cooked and peeled shrimp products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled shrimp were sold under the Bornstein Seafoods brand in one-pound or five-pound bags. Consumers should check their freezers for the recalled products, identified by specific lot codes, and dispose of them or return them for a refund. Although no illnesses have been reported, Listeria infection can be severe for older adults, immunocompromised individuals, young children, and pregnant women. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Those experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention promptly. For inquiries, contact Bornstein Seafoods via email.
