LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraska’s director of the Department of Economic Development, K.C. Belitz, is set to resign in July, Gov. Jim Pillen said Tuesday. A statement from Gov. Pillen’s office said Belitz will resign from his position effective July 18. Pillen’s office said Belitz oversaw the development of projects like Read Nebraska, 6 Regions, One Nebraska, and the Governor’s New Venture Competition. Belitz also oversaw the review and issuance of hundreds of millions of dollars in grants through state and local programs, especially in North and South Omaha. An announcement for the interim director of the DED and the search for a permanent director will come at a later date, Pillen’s office said.
