CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A public health alert and recall have been issued for a pork product sold nationwide at a popular grocery store chain due to the possibility of metal contamination. The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall after a routine inspection revealed that a machine used in processing the product was damaged, potentially contaminating the meat with metal fragments. The affected product is a 16-oz sleeved tray package labeled “Pork Carnitas SEASONS & SEARED PORK WITH JUICES SLOW COOKED WITH CITRUS” with “USE BY” dates of “06/30/2025” or “07/01/2025.” These products bear the establishment number “Est. 46049” on the USDA mark of inspection. As of the recall announcement, no injuries had been reported, and the product was no longer available for sale. However, the FSIS advises consumers who may still have the product in their refrigerators or freezers to discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
