Salmonella Outbreak Linked to California Eggs Affects 79 Individuals

A salmonella outbreak connected to eggs distributed by the California-based August Egg Company has affected at least 79 people, with 21 requiring hospitalization. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has urged consumers to discard or return specific batches of organic and cage-free brown eggs sold under various brand names. The recalled eggs were distributed across nine states, with sell-by dates ranging from March 4, 2025, to June 19, 2025. August Egg Company voluntarily recalled approximately 1.7 million dozen eggs potentially contaminated with salmonella. Symptoms of salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, which typically resolve within a week for most individuals but can be life-threatening for vulnerable populations.
