SLB Capturi Advances European Carbon Capture with Key Projects

SLB Capturi is making significant progress in European carbon capture with two key projects reaching milestones this month. The first is Norway’s Longship project, which represents Europe’s first complete carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain. This initiative captures CO2 from industrial sources and stores it under the North Sea via the Northern Lights project. SLB Capturi provides carbon capture units for Heidelberg Materials’ cement facility and Hafslund Celsio’s waste-to-energy plant in Oslo. “The Longship project demonstrates the scalability of industrial decarbonization,” said Gavin Rennick, president of New Energy, SLB. The Heidelberg Materials plant in Brevik is the world’s first industrial-scale carbon capture facility at a cement site, capturing up to 400,000 metric tons of CO2 annually. In the Netherlands, SLB Capturi has commissioned a carbon capture plant for Twence, capable of capturing 100,000 metric tons of CO2 per year. This modular solution offers a cost-efficient way to reduce emissions quickly. “Our modular solutions provide the speed and scale needed for global decarbonization,” said Egil Fagerland, CEO of SLB Capturi.
