In an interview with The Wall Street Journal published Saturday, Trump acknowledged that his efforts to boost domestic investment in the American economy have not fully materialized, stating, “I can’t tell you how this will translate with voters.” When asked whether Republicans might lose their House majority in November, he responded, “I can’t say for sure. I don’t know when all this money will start flowing.”
Trump praised his administration’s success in attracting billions of dollars in foreign and domestic investment, asserting that these inflows could reshape the U.S. economic landscape. However, he conceded that it remains unclear whether such economic momentum will convert into political gains during the upcoming fall elections.
The former president has promoted policies including sweeping tariffs on imports, arguing they strengthen domestic industries, create jobs, support the stock market, and enhance investment appeal. While he campaigned last year on curbing inflation, his recent statements have fluctuated between dismissing cost-of-living concerns as a “hoax” and blaming former President Joe Biden, while also promising that his own economic strategies will benefit Americans by next year.
“By the time we need to talk about the elections, in a few more months,” Trump said, “our prices will be in good shape.”
