Abu Dhabi – The United Arab Emirates and the Russian Federation are advancing their strategic economic partnership based on mutual understanding and shared commercial interests, according to Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism. His remarks came during the 12th session of the UAE–Russia Joint Governmental Committee for Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation, co-chaired by Al Marri and Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, with participation from public and private sector representatives of both nations.
The minister emphasized that the meeting marks a significant step in fostering productive business partnerships and enhancing collaboration between private enterprises. He highlighted priority sectors within the new economy as focal points for joint initiatives aimed at mutual benefit.
Al Marri underscored the UAE’s appeal as an investment destination, citing its flexible economic regulations, including 100% foreign ownership across more than 2,000 business activities and a sophisticated, business-friendly environment. These advantages, he noted, create strong foundations for expanding bilateral trade and attracting Russian companies to establish operations in the UAE.
Discussions during the committee session included action plans and cooperation mechanisms to boost investment flows, facilitate technology transfer, and strengthen supply chain integration. Both sides expressed commitment to removing trade barriers and identifying new areas for industrial collaboration.
The dialogue reflects growing momentum in UAE-Russia economic relations, particularly in non-energy sectors such as innovation, digital transformation, and advanced manufacturing.
