UW-Stout Receives $647,000 Grant to Boost AI and Manufacturing Support

The University of Wisconsin-Stout has received a $647,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to enhance its Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence (CAM-AI). This funding will enable CAM-AI to provide advanced manufacturing and AI support to small- and medium-sized manufacturers. UW-Stout Chancellor Katherine Frank emphasized that the investment allows the university to expand its industry-focused services. Missy Hughes, secretary and CEO of WEDC, highlighted the importance of AI in maintaining Wisconsin’s competitive edge in manufacturing. The grant will facilitate the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment and the development of an Automated Demonstration line, showcasing automation, robotics, and AI-aided manufacturing. CAM-AI aims to partner with the Manufacturing Outreach Center, solve industry problems, and engage in statewide initiatives. Manufacturing is a cornerstone of Wisconsin’s economy, contributing $66 billion annually.
