Vancouver International Auto Show Removes Tesla Over Safety Concerns

The Vancouver International Auto Show has decided to exclude Tesla from this week’s event due to safety concerns, according to the show’s executive director. Eric Nicholl stated that the primary concern was for the safety of workers, attendees, and exhibitors. Tesla was given multiple chances to voluntarily withdraw. The decision aims to ensure attendees can focus on the positive aspects of the event. The removal follows protests, known as “Tesla Takedown,” in Ottawa and Vancouver criticizing Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his advisory role to U.S. President Donald Trump. Protesters gathered outside Tesla dealerships with messages opposing Musk’s influence. Pat McCutcheon, a protester, supported the show’s decision to remove Tesla, citing potential vandalism or physical confrontations. Additionally, British Columbia Hydro recently banned Tesla products from its electric vehicle rebate program amid the ongoing Canada-U.S. trade war. — news from The Associated Press
