My credit card application strategy has shifted due to Capital One’s recent changes to the Venture X Card’s lounge access privileges. Previously, the card offered unlimited visits to various lounges, including Capital One Lounges, Priority Pass Lounges, and Plaza Premium Lounges, with generous guest policies. However, Capital One announced that cardholders will no longer have access to Plaza Premium Lounges, and there will be significant cuts to guest and authorized user benefits starting February 1, 2026. These changes mean I would no longer be able to bring guests into lounges without incurring additional costs, making the card less appealing for my travel style. As a result, I plan to stick with The Platinum Card® from American Express for lounge access.
